OUR STORY

Sheffield has been
moving with us for years.

Dance Star has changed with the times, but the reason people come has stayed much the same: music, movement, fitness and a room full of people enjoying themselves.

2009

Siobhan & Sarina bring Zumba to Sheffield

Siobhan and Sarina launched Zumba classes in Sheffield and became known locally as the Zumba Sisters.

2011

The Zumba Sisters are growing

Dance Star's surviving website records show a busy Sheffield timetable, with classes running across several local venues and formats including Zumba and Zumbatomic.

2015

FitSteps joins the mix

By 2015, Dance Star was promoting both Zumba and FitSteps as part of its Sheffield fitness programme.

2016

Turn it up with Pound

Dance Star introduced Pound, the rock-inspired workout using drumsticks, alongside its established dance fitness classes.

2020

A decade worth celebrating

The Dance Star website marked its long-running story with 10-year anniversary artwork, celebrating years of getting Sheffield moving.

TODAY

Still dancing. Still moving.

Dance Star UK was founded by Siobhan Ratcliffe after a career in dance that took her around the world with dance companies and production shows.

Siobhan and her sister Sarina were pioneers of Zumba in Sheffield. The idea is still simple: great music, movement, fitness and a class that can turn a bad day into a good one.
